Is not Is - WHITEY PIXIES

Just a quick post before i go to work and slave for the man.

HELMETS BIATCHES! I'm about to post a couple of my favourite artists (i know i know big surprise) from the past and present. Only there's a twist today kids....no really there is…read on.

Ever hear a track and immediately something else comes to mind? Kinda like when you listen to the Beyond the Wizard’s Sleeve (Erol Alkan) mix of Midlake’s ROSCOE, the words (and opening music) to Journey’s ”WHO'S CRYIN’ NOW“ go perfectly over top (*credit to Jason Corbett for the tip off/permanent tune implant). Thank God earth-bound musical artists have completely exhausted all possibility of coming up with a new chord progression and, consequently, music buffs (such as the ones who read these and other blogs) can point this out....or post examples…or even mash them up in Ableton. :p

run on wut.

Anyhoo, here’s just such a combo. Every time I hear Whitey’s remix of GOING NOWHERE by Cut Copy i start thinking of a Pixies song. Well today I’m about to post them both in succession, juxtaposed if you will.

Listen. Compare. Shop. Buy!

WARNING:: I could be way off....it's happened before.

The Pixies RIVER EUPHRATES

Cut Copy GOING NOWHERE (Whitey Mix)

See? Told you!

Please support the artists you read about here. You can buy these artist’s music on iTunes or on Beatport

Hey, one of my ALL time favorites is the fact that the opening chord progression of the dark and oh-so-moody "ENTER SANDMAN" by Metallica is IDENTICAL to the opening riff to the oh-so-poppy "IN A BIG COUNTRY" by the aptly named Big Country.

Listen to them both (just the intros) back to back.

Same chords, same order.

Does that mean that Metalica (who's song came out 7 years later) are secret New Wave fans?

Interesting...

The Whitey remix is awesome by the way. Sounds like it's raining.
