rêveries

just want to make sure you people don't think i only post the freshest funkiest party rockers all the time without question.
i'm about to throw down a few stinky stale-ass tracks from back in the day that most likely won't be rocking any party anytime soon.

i love every one of these tracks for different reasons (see mutterings between tracks)

k lets go.

the first one is a track i played on the first night i ever djed live.
this was late 80s.
the bar was checkers pub in regina saskatchewan.
this track always spawned a few nosebleeds on the floor.

fyi - the word pogue is a shortened version of pogue mahone: gaelic for kiss my ass.

The Pogues IF I SHOULD FALL FROM THE GRACE OF GOD
——————————————————————————————

Next up one of my alltime fave 80s bands - xtc.
the lead singer has acute stage fright so they never play live.
all studio.
but oh boy do they rule in there.
they have almost 20 albums (it could be well over that by now)

this was one of their first tracks i ever heard.
played for me by an old friend xenofon gargatzidis in a chevy nova.
xen could twist a mean joint in the dark back seat of said moving chevy nova.....with ONE hand :|
legendary.

xtc MELT THE GUNS
——————————————————————————————

i love the cure.
best shit.
there isn't one thing about them, or what they've done or any of the volume of awesome songs they've put out that isn't completely perfect.
here's a track from killing an arab/boys don't cry era...late 70s.
digitalism made this track arguably more famous than it ever was....

The Cure FIRE IN CAIRO (Egyptian Remix)
——————————————————————————————

This track was probably killed in one too many mattress commercials, but this cover by kraftwerk made me get up and dance as far back as i can remember getting up and dancing.

Hot Butter POPCORN (Kraftwerk Mix)
——————————————————————————————

As we get a bit more electronic and dancey i'll close with a remixer who remixed EVERYTHING from the 80s.
Razormaid.
Google his discography; if i were to copy it into this post you'd be scrolling for an ice age to get past it.
might even crash your friggin browser.

Talking Heads BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE (Razormaid Mix)

Please support the artists you read about here.
You can buy this music on iTunes or on Beatport

thanks for listening :)
